OKAY ALL YOU ADULTS WHO KEEP ASKING WHEN KPAC IS GOING TO DO A GROWN-UP SHOW...........
We're going to do a grown-up show............for kids. So you get at least half of your wish.
This fall KPAC will produce "Welcome to Our Neighborhood," a musical play for children, especially preschool and early-elementary children, to enjoy. If you're anything like me, thoughts of Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood bring on a good case of the warm-fuzzies. His warmth and wisdom have stood the test of time. "Welcome to Our Neighborhood" features the music and magic of Fred Rogers as the Neighborhood Trolley carries children into the Neighborhood of Make-Believe.
Performances will begin on Saturday, November 22 and may run through Wednesday, November 26. We will be doing school matinees on the Monday, Tuesday, and perhaps the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, so work flexibility is required. Rehearsals will be in the evenings, however.
Adults, including university students whose schedules permit, and homeschool students who need performance arts credit may audition.
We will be casting for:
Mr. Rogers (has to sing well) Mr. McFeely (sings one song) Queen Sara Saturday (only sings with group) King Friday XIII (has to sing in a stuffy-king voice) Daniel Tiger (possibly female actor/small in stature/has to sing well) Chorus Members (sing and dance in groups) Trolley Riders (sing and move in groups)
Please E-MAIL if you are interested in auditioning. Auditions are not yet scheduled, but will be flexible. Make sure to include your phone number and the best time to call. Feel free to ask questions and I will reply. Feel free to include information about musical/dance/theatre experience, but it's not required.
